A little bit about our status

We're both still looking for jobs. I had an interview for a part time position on Monday, and I'm hoping that will become an offer. Until we both get jobs, we'll be at my parents' house.

Though we are anxious to be on our own and in our own space, my parents are making it pretty easy to be here. They do a lot with the kids while we work on job searching, etc., we get wonderful meals, and Dad's wine making is pretty fun. We have our own bedrooms and Mom has been awesome about letting us set up our own stuff for the time being. I'm sure it's not easy having their house all cluttered with our stuff and dealing with our temporary redecorating, but they keep saying that they're just happy we're here. I'm doing my best to keep the toys off the floor and our over abundance of stuff out of the way.

I have had a lot of fun being near my Sister & her family. We have gotten together for 2 scrap booking sessions so far and plan to do more. Wish Karen & my scrap booking friends from TX could come across the US to join us! Samuel loves getting to play with his cousins and had a blast when we visited the Sallas (friends with a little boy Sam's age - Evan). The two of them ran off and started playing as soon as we arrived at their house - and they played well! I'm also having a great time catching up with friends.

I won't lie. The stress of being jobless is hard - as I'm sure you can all imagine, but we pray a lot and trust that the Lord will provide us our needs. We are blessed to have so many wonderful people in our lives.

Samuel & Grandma made dark chocolate covered treats: pretzels (my fav), strawberries (OK another fav), & a few other treats. Samuel had more fun tasting everything and is still (as I'm sure you've noticed) a big fan of the wink.

Samuel and I made some heart cut out cookies and decorated them (Daddy's fav). We took a few to Grandma Ianuly. I found these cute stencils for the sugar (made by wilton), so we iced the cookies then stenciled the design on each one. Samuel's favorite was the pink lips stencil.

Samuel dresses in his batman costume pretty much everyday (unless he has had an accident). To eat, he just lifts up the mask.

Potty, potty, potty, potty, potty....

OK, so I'm guessing it's just the Moms, Dads, and Grandparents who will care about this post..

We finally started potty training with Samuel. He still doesn't care - I'm guessing he'd stay in diapers until he's 10 if we'd allow it.

We're having the usual successes and set backs, but we were very proud when on the first day (2/9) he actually did #2 in the potty (Hence the pose below) It was an accident, and he was pretty surprised that he did it. Woo hoo!

Now, it will be so nice to only have 1 in diapers

The number of deer that are in my parents' back yard on a daily basis is CRAZY! These 3 are right outside the kitchen window. Darin is dying to get the bow out.

Then with Mommy... The snow was really powdery, and Sam loved it until the bottom of the hill when it sprayed up into his face. He let me know it was time to go inside at that point.
